Making Postcards

Welcome to Postoffice, a tool for creating digital files that represent Postcards, and all the information you care to share about them.

It can create 3D models in the USDZ format, and JPEG/PNG images with the HTML & CSS needed to allow them to 'flip' on your site. See an example at shutup.jp.

Tips

Images from a flatbed scanner work best.

If you want to capture the edges of the postcard — eg. if it has round corners or non-straight edges — then use a solid background colour as different from the card as possible, leave at least 8 pixels of the background around the outside, and check the "remove borders" option at the end.

About the front

This is often known as alt-text.

Postcards often only have a message on the back, so this will probably be empty.

About the back

Leave this blank if the only relevant thing about the back is the message.

This will be used for searching for your postcard by its content, and for the blind.
